Nothing leaves your phone
unless you send it.

Your moments are written to your device and stay there. No ads, no trackers, no analytics — not one, not ever. The only things that ever travel are the ones you deliberately hand over: a moment you share with someone, or a trip you ask Notata to write up. Everything else is a journal that respects the difference between sharing your life and surrendering it.

01Mark it

One tap, and the whole moment is kept.

Press once. Notata records where you are, the weather at that instant, the time, your elevation — even who you’re with. You type nothing unless you want to.

  • Location & street address, found automatically
  • Live weather at the moment you mark
  • Photos, people, a note, a rating — if you want them

02Group it

Your trips assemble themselves.

Mark moments as you go. Notata gathers everything inside a journey’s dates into a single trip — every city, every stop, in one place. A travel diary that wrote itself.

  • Auto-grouped by date range — or found in your camera roll
  • A trip map with every pin from the journey
  • Rename, edit dates, revisit any time
03See the shape of it

See the shape of your life.

Zoom out. Notata lays your years on a single line — where you lived, where you worked, the trips you took, the milestones that mattered. Everything, in perspective.

  • Residences & career as colour-coded spans
  • Trips and milestones marked in place
  • Zoom from a whole decade down to a single day

04Place it

Every moment, placed.

See all your marks on one map — the coastline you walked, the desert you crossed, the corner café you keep coming back to. Your geography, drawn by memory.

  • Every moment dropped as a pin
  • Zoom to a single trip’s route
  • Tap any pin to open the moment

Mark it from your wrist.

Some moments you don’t want to interrupt to dig out a phone. Raise your wrist, tap once — Notata captures where and when. Add a note or a rating right there, or leave it; the rest fills in later.

  • Location & time captured the instant you tap
  • A quick note and a five-star rating, right from the watch
  • Everything lands on your timeline back home

The rest of it, quietly.

Depth for when you want it — never in your way.

What it costs

$14.99 a year. Everything included.

One price, with a 1-month free trial. There is no free tier, no upsell, and no second subscription waiting behind the feature you actually wanted — every part of Notata below is in the box. Building an app that doesn’t live off your data costs real money, so Notata is paid for by the people who use it rather than by what it could learn about them.

Trip StoryIN BETA
Your trip, written in your own words

Notata turns a trip you’ve logged into a short first-person story, grounded only in what you recorded. In beta it runs on an Anthropic API key you paste in once; a hosted version that removes the key entirely is in progress.

Notata ZinesCOMING
A printed story of your year

Your moments woven into a warm, tactile little magazine — your trips, weather, and people, written into a keepsake and mailed to your door.

Zines will cost extra when they arrive — printing and postage aren’t free, and we’d rather charge for the paper than quietly raise the subscription. Everything else here is covered by the $14.99. We’ll tell you right inside the app when they’re ready.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

How much does Notata cost?+

Notata costs $14.99 per year, with a 1-month free trial. That single subscription includes every feature — capture, timeline, trips, map, lifeline, Apple Watch, slideshows, Trip Stories, and sharing. There is no free tier and no second subscription. Apple grants the free trial once per Apple ID, so if you’ve subscribed before, resubscribing bills straight away.

Do I need an account?+

Not to use Notata. It works the moment you open it — no sign-up, no email, no password. An account is only needed if you want to share moments with another Notata user, and you can create one with Apple Sign-In or an emailed link at that point. Everything else works without one.

Where does my data live?+

On your device. Your moments, photos, trips, and home location are stored in a local database on your iPhone and are never uploaded in the background. There is no cloud sync, and no copy of your journal on our side.

Does anything ever leave my phone?+

Only what you deliberately send. There are three paths, and each one takes a tap: sharing a moment with someone in your Trusted Circle uploads that single moment so they can receive it; generating a Trip Story sends that trip’s notes, places, dates and weather to Claude (never your photos), after a consent screen; and the feedback email sends whatever you write in it. Nothing else is transmitted, and Notata contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.

Can I back up or move my moments?+

Anytime. Export your entire history as a single JSON file you keep, and import it back on a new phone. Your record is yours to hold and move — no cloud account required.

Do I have to write anything?+

Not a word. One tap captures your location, the weather, and the time automatically. Notes, photos, people, and ratings are there when you want them — optional, never required.

What if there’s no signal?+

Mark the moment anyway. Notata records the time immediately and fills in location and weather when it can — and if a fix never arrives, you can set the place yourself later. Nothing is lost.
